MY WORK

GRAPHIC DESIGN

This course focused on developing digital art and design skills through project-based learning using iPads and Procreate. Students explored principles of design, composition, and visual communication while completing creative assignments that allowed for artistic freedom within structured themes. Projects included illustration, digital collage, typography, and conceptual design. Emphasis was placed on creative problem-solving, individual expression, and mastering digital tools to execute high-quality visual work.

ADVERTISING + DESIGN

This course provided a professional, hands-on introduction to the world of branding, visual communication, and commercial design. As part of the student-run company Golden Advertising, a brand developed within Verdi Studios, we collaborated with real clients—including Mario’s Pizzeria—delivering professional-quality marketing materials. Our work included brand development, digital and print advertising, and product photography. Students managed the creative process from concept to execution, using Adobe Creative Suite applications such as Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to design menus, promotional assets, and social media content. We also utilized DSLR cameras and studio lighting to photograph designs and products, learning essential principles of composition and visual storytelling.

AP 2D
+ ART

AP Graphics is an advanced-level course that builds on the foundation established in Graphics II, challenging students to deepen their understanding of design principles, digital techniques, and creative expression. The curriculum emphasizes independent, concept-driven projects completed using industry-standard software and tools. As an AP course, it culminates in a comprehensive AP exam assessing both practical skills and design theory. Currently, I am enrolled in AP Graphics, actively developing new projects each week that demonstrate increasing technical proficiency and artistic maturity, with regular uploads showcasing my progress and portfolio growth.

ABOUT

MY STORY

My name is Ella Kunis, and my passion for branding and graphic design began during my freshman year at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School on Long Island, New York. Enrolling in Advertising Design I introduced me to the power of visual storytelling, how thoughtful design can shape perception, build identity, and communicate meaning with clarity and creativity. From that moment on, I was hooked.

Eager to grow, I continued into Advertising Design II as a sophomore, while also working as a student graphic designer for Golden Advertising, our school’s in-house agency. That experience gave me real-world exposure to collaborative design and tight deadlines. I also competed within DECA, earning awards for projects that combined marketing strategy with strong visual execution. I Was Then further honored as the Vice President of Media for my schools chapter.

In my junior year, I advanced to Computer Graphics II/Graphic Design, where I refined my skills in digital illustration. I contributed to our school's annually published journal, deepening my understanding of narrative design and visual cohesion. Currently, I’m enrolled in AP Graphics, where I’m taking on more independent and concept-driven work that challenges both my creativity and technical precision.
